“Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And be one traveler, long I stood
Look down as far as I could…
…………………
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And I, I took the one less travelled by.”
The Road Not Taken by Roald Dahl
This poem describes my position now exactly. I am the only Sarawakian from class who has really made the decision to come down to KL with JJ for my Organizational Orientation (Preparation before practical) for two weeks. I had the choice of choosing any organization in Kuching/Kota Samarahan or coming down here to KL which is less traveled by.
I always knew that I have made the right decision. Coming to KL to know more people and to get used to a more hectic life that is what I’m expecting to experience.
The neighbourhood here at the place I’m staying is really friendly too!
You smile to people and people smile back to you.
You talk to the hawker, they’ll talk back to you.
Your handbag get snatched, they’ll try to get it back for you.
I was walking peacefully at the small street behind the condo I’m staying where there are two hawker stalls to the bus station. I am always aware of my bag but this day, thinking that I’ll be walking for a short distance only before reaching the bus station, I brought my fav bag and did not aware until I heard a motor sound coming nearer and nearer to my ear. I thought to myself, “this cannot be happening” and I was right, I was at that time a snatch thief victim. My bag got snatched and my auto reaction was to pull back but I fell to the ground and I let my bag go. Instead, my hand got scratched and both my palm got a little bruise from the fall. I tried to chase but the motor was too fast. There was a guy in red shirt who tried to chase together with me. Then there was a guy who tried to chase with his motor as well but lost the sight of the motor. I didn’t even think of looking at the license plate which is another regret felt. But it could’ve been a fake plate anyway. Guess I’ve never fell so hard on the ground before. I felt angry, dissatisfied, regret for bringing my bag along, lost cos I’ve lost together with the bag the external hard disk that my bro left me and also my wallet. Inside my wallet, there’s MyKad, License, ATM card and some other business cards.
After that, I called up JJ to tell him what have happened. Oh yea, luckily my phone was in my pocket together with my house key. He reminded me to cancel my ATM card which I did after that. Then later in the evening, his friend came back and he brought me together with JJ to the police station to make a written report. Oh yea, calling 999 after being snatched will not work as they will ask you to go make a written report anyway. Then, we were transferred to the police station at Pudu.
Today, I’ll have to go to get my IC and License done. Urgh…
Remember the situation at Waterfront Kuching at night time which is very disturbed and full of snatch thieves and pick pockets? That’s the situation that I have always avoided which explains why I seldom go there. But in KL, there’s no place for you to label it like that because the whole KL is full of it. Snatch thieves, pick pockets, robbers and even murderers. Received tones of email warnings about the tactics used in KL. I used to ignore them because I knew that it won’t happen yet in Kuching as things will surely affect KK, Sabah first because dumbasses from KLs think that Sarawak is in Sabah. Why do I think so? Because I was transferred by KWSP to do my practical in KK when they said that I was placed according to my billing address. But now, I know I should take note of them.
I feel that my arm is a little bit dislocated now.
My 2 cents:
Snatch thief should never be given a chance. The police said this kinda case is normal and hard to catch. Dumb ass. This kind of mentality is what brought more and more snatch thieves in the country!! Imagine that there is not even a CCTV in my area! They have CCTV everywhere in Singapore! Which is why they can catch anyone who spits and make them do social work. Malaysia needs more improvement. And til now, I’ve only seen JB making arrests on snatch thieves. What happens in KL??? The cops sleeping on their job?
P/S: Don’t pm me and tell me to be extra careful next time because I will. Don’t tell me “I told you so” cos I heard that from my dad already and I don’t need anymore of it. And I wanna thank Ivan, my good friend for telling me where to make my IC and being concern. I wanna also thank Ah Chai for driving me to the police station. I wanna knock my own head of for coming down to KL without knowing exactly what else to expect. If I get murdered one day down the road, I wanna curse all the criminals in KL to die one second after commited the crimes. I wanna become Kira now.
