"Home cooked meal is the best!!" You'll get to hear that phrase from every single person who is miles and miles and miles away from home for study or working purposes. For those who's still staying at home enjoying those meals, they won't really know or appreciate those meals which are easily available to them.
This post is for those who are actually enjoying home cooked meals every single day. Whenever the food is too salty or too sweet or too spicy for our taste buds, we'll surely complain about it. That happens all the time, right? I mean, to everyone in this whole world (especially those friends I know from Penang, u know who u r). BUT, has it ever crossed ur mind how much effort it took for a person (especially your mom or dad) to come up with a dish or meal?
The process includes:
1) Planning on what to cook for today's meal
2) After the dishes are on list, then it's time to flip those recipe books in the mind just to get the ingredients correctly
3) Getting those ingredients ready one by one (washing the veges, cutting them into cubes, measuring the amount of spices for each dish, etc)
4) Cooking time!! The level of heat must be controlled, the timing for each ingredient to be included into a particular dish (especially tomatoes = they have to be put in last cos they get soft very fast)
5) Get those dishes served on the table
Ladies and gentlemen, do not think that these 5 steps is a piece of cake. You need to do hands-on in order to know. That's what I gained from 7 days of deprivation of fast food from the cafe. That was during the study week. I had to cook my meals. =.="
The point is, try to appreciate the food served on the table. If it's too salty, add water. If it's not saline enough, add more salt. That's it. Stop complaining. The cook did their best to impress the others of how well they can cook but when all they could hear were complaints, I bet the cook will never try their best anymore because all their efforts wasted on the person who could only complain. You'll really hurt ur mom or dad's feeling if all you do is complain on every single meal that you have.
Imagine when there comes a day when you won't be able to eat those meals prepared by your parents anymore. You won't even have the chance to complain. See my point?
I really appreciate all the effort put in by my parents trying to prepare a good meal every single day. I love home cooked meals. =) Start appreciating and stop complaining, y'all.
